Featured Project
Technique Roofing
Creating a modern, mobile-optimized version of an existing website without losing the client’s
original vision.
The Challenge
Technique Roofing wanted their existing website recreated rather than completely redesigned. The goal was to preserve the look and structure of the original site while improving how it functioned across modern devices.
The biggest challenge was that the original website relied heavily on full width layouts. Images and content were often built around taking up essentially the entire available screen width. That created significant problems when trying to make the same design work properly on mobile devices.
Rather than changing the client’s requested design direction, I needed to find a way to recreate the existing experience while making it substantially more responsive and manageable.
The Approach
I rebuilt the site in WordPress using Divi, working carefully through the existing design and recreating its visual structure.
A large part of the project became CSS and responsive layout work. I worked with widths, padding, margins, and responsive constraints to get the recreated site as close as possible to the original while preventing the full-width layouts from breaking down on smaller screens.
The initial goal was to get the existing experience working correctly while leaving room to expand the site’s content and SEO strategy as more information became available.
That eventually led into a larger local SEO effort, including building out geographic service pages for the areas Technique Roofing serves.
Built for the Community
Information was organized around the needs of residents, businesses, and visitors so important city resources could be found more easily.
Clear Communication
City services, departments, events, and community information were structured into a straightforward experience that helps visitors quickly find what they need.
Accessibility
Accessibility-focused design and development considerations were incorporated to create a more usable experience for a broad range of residents and visitors.

The Takeaway
Sometimes the best solution isn’t a completely new design.
In this project, the client specifically wanted the new website to stay very close to what they already had. The challenge was taking that existing design and making it work better within a modern WordPress environment.
It taught me that good development isn’t always about changing the design. Sometimes it’s about understanding why something was built the way it was, what the client actually wants, and how to solve the technical problems without losing that vision.
RESULT
The finished website maintained the visual direction of the original site while providing a significantly better mobile experience.
What started as a fairly straightforward rebuild also developed into ongoing SEO and local content work, including city specific pages designed around the company’s service areas.
The project allowed me to work across website development, responsive design, CSS troubleshooting, SEO, local SEO, content strategy, and collaborative business planning.
